Masse - Duet Sonata no. 6, from Op. 3

This sonata closes the first of two collections of cello duets from Jean-Baptiste Masse, a musician in the French royal court and composer of foundational cello music in the French style. The three movements bounce between Eb minor and Eb major and demonstrate three quintessential Baroque forms - an Allegro in binary form, two rondos to make up the second movement, and a grand chaconne to round out the sonata.
